Probably the oldest sightseeing building in the spa town is a wooden gazebo on a rock face at Jeleního skok, directly above the centre of Karlovy Vary. The gazebo was built here in 1804 by Mayer, a rich Viennese merchant and native of Karlovy Vary, after whom it is also called Mayer's Gloriette. The octagonal wooden observation gazebo consists of eight simple wooden columns supporting a tall, needle-like tin roof on an octagonal base. The gazebo is complemented by wooden railings between the columns and benches.
